Training Tip Tuesday #8 Efficiency Filter- A training concept I use a lot is running what I do through an “efficiency filter.” I do not think there is one perfect way to perform a specific handgun function whether it is a reload, a malfunction clear, etc. because external and internal circumstances are fluid in both competition and self-defense situations. I do think that most, if not all of us, can be more efficient in our movements. One of the best ways to discover this is through watching camera footage of your competition stages or range drills. As you conduct these self-assessments, determine where you can be more efficient in your movements, timing, and actions. Doing this will increase your competition times, and overall handgun competency exponentially. In a future training tip, I will discuss segmenting, which is one of the most common mistakes shooters make in terms of efficiency!
