Training Tip Tuesday #12

Training Tip Tuesday #12 Developing your Draw- Having a smooth, efficient, and repeatable draw is a major part of your firearms proficiency. Many people neglect this portion of their training, especially if they shoot primarily at indoor ranges where drawing from a holster is sometimes not allowed. The great thing is, the draw can be practiced in a dry setting away from the range. Always make sure to clear and check your weapon and separate any live ammunition from the area before practicing your draw in a dry setting. The mechanics of the draw can be broken down into the following steps: Grip your weapon and release it from the holster **note grip it high on the back strap establishing your shooting grip as soon as you touch it, Lock your wrist and rock toward your target ** note do not fish the gun overhead or bowl the gun in a scooping motion, Put both hands on the gun close to your body, Finally, perfect a smooth and level presentation of the gun toward your target.
